Moving Day
Wow! We have less than 2 months left in Boston.
On Wednesday a representative from the Air Force contracted moving company came to our apartment to survey our belongings. On May 31st they will come to our place and pack up all of our things and load them up onto their truck. Then in San Antonio they will unpack everything and haul away all of the garbage. We have moved a handful of times in the past 5 years and I did most of the packing myself. For this alone I am so glad that Eric is part of the Air Force Health Professional Scholarship Program.
For a variety of reasons we have decided that we wait until June to find a place to live in San Antonio. This means we will go down several days before Eric has to report and stay in a hotel until we find a home. The moving company will put our stuff into temporary storage and hold it there until we have an address.

Julee,
I know what you mean about packing yourself. When we moved out here to Las Vegas from Cincinnati, OH we moved ourselves and I said after that I would never do that again lol. Good luck with the move. You're going to be closer to me now. :)

OK girlfriend. This is where I can help advise you since the Air Force has already moved me twice. 1. Watch the packers like hawks and make sure they group things together that make sense or unpacking will be like a scavenger hunt. They will pack empty Taco Bell sauce packs and trash if you don't watch them! Unpacking that sucks! 2. If you have anything really valuable and breakable, pack it yourself and get them to double pack it. Don't take chances, the packers are not rocket scientists. 3. Feed your packers and movers, they will work quicker and be happier. It is kind of an expected thing, like tipping your waiter. I got mine subs and pizza. 4. Give any items not needed to the movers/packers, it insures that more of your needed items arrive in San Antonio. 5. Pack a mini-kitchen for the transition time. Your items might not get to you for as long as a month - seriously. GEt disposable cutting board things, a knife, a pot, a pan, 5 plates, 5 cutlery sets ect.
If you have questions...ask! I'll be happy to answer!
