Stuff Portrait Friday

Random and Odd has been doing Stuff Portrait Friday for a while. Well I decided that I would finally join in and play along.

My Ride:

There is this perception floating out there that minivans are really uncool. Well, I really like my car. We generally are not a family that stays home much. My minivan comfortably gets us to the places where we need to go and what could be better than that.

A Mile Away:

I have come to realize that just about anywhere you go in San Antonio you will be within a mile of a Bill Miller BBQ. The food is not bad. But since I spent most of my formative years in Kansas City my barbecue loyalty lies elsewhere.

Why I Love Where I Live:

Well, I cannot say that I love where I live, but I am starting to like it. I do really like that the cost of living is low and we can afford to have a house with a lot of space and a backyard for the kids. I also know that I'm really going to like it here come February when the average temperature is 54 degrees.

The boys do look like they are having fun!
Do you ever find yourself saying "Go outside and get the stink blowed off ya?" My grandma always told us that, and the day I said it to one of my sons, I almost fainted. We really are recordings of our childhood.

As another Air Force Officer's Wife (AFOW) with children who recently moved from an apartment to a house with a backyard all I can say is Sheeeeuuw! It feels nice to stretch out those limbs you didn't even realize were cramped. A backyard is where kids can really be kids. Scream all you want, spill your drink, throw food, get as wet as you want, Ah how glorious!

That's what keeps me in the minivan, that it makes it easier for us to be out and about. I hear you on the cost of living stuff. I wish I could say the same...

My husband is partial to NC barbecue which is different than most other types of barbecue around. It isn't in a red sauce and it is kind of vinegary. Hard to explain unless you've had it. It's amazing how many different kinds of barbecue exist around the country. :-)
