Friday at the Art Museum

Eric was able to come home early this afternoon, so we high-tailed it downtown to the San Antonio Museum of Art. I had read in the paper that some Tibetan Buddhist Monks were creating a mandala there this week. They will complete it on Sunday and then immediately destroy it, so we took our only opportunity to go see it.
As we were pulling up to the museum we saw the monks in front getting ready to leave. Bummer! We wouldn't be able to see them in action. But it was well worth the trip. The museum had a really nice collection and the building was beautiful. It actually houses an older mandala which is one of only 4 preserved ones in the nation.

The kids were amazing. We had not ever had very much success taking them to art museums. They would always lose interest after about 15 minutes and then start complaining and whining. They gave us at least an hour this time.

That looks so cool! Glad that there is still some culture for you to enjoy in Texas. I can't wait till my kids are old enough for outings like that. a 2 year-old and 3 month-old is just a recipe for disaster at this point.
