Finally!
I have been planning to post this for a few days now, but as you can imagine things are more than a little hectic around here.
As we had suspected all along, we have to report to McGuire AFB in New Jersey by the end of the month. The movers will come on the 19th to start packing and will load the truck on the 21st. "What about Christmas?" you wonder. Well, we will drive up through Kansas City and make a brief family stop on our way east.
Though it is rough having to move again so soon, we are happy about the location. New Jersey does get a bad rap, but McGuire is in Burlington County which is the most rural county in the state. But we won't be completely out in the boonies. It is 45 minutes from Philadelphia, 90 minutes from NYC and 3 hours from Washington, DC. The best of both worlds and I can't forget to mention we will be about a half an hour from the coast!
I'm not so thrilled about jumping right into to winter. (We had a high of 71 here today) I had to scramble and order snowpants and boots for the kids. I still need to buy some sweaters and more long-sleeved shirts. When we moved here 6 months ago we never imagined we would be leaving so soon. After this move we are definitely planning on staying put for a while.

KC just dealt with 11 inches of snow so don't pack the sled. Hope you have time to go see the Plaza lights.
Life is an adventure isn't it?

Um, I think congratulations are in order. But, I am sorry that your holiday will be so whacky.
If you drive through OH, be sure to wave (I live north of Columbus).
Good luck with the packing ans such. Have a good weekend! :)

Colleen, I have spent much time checking out the VOQ listings. Have you seen the armed forced vacation club? (http://www.afvclub.com/faq.asp)
Also, it looks like I'm going to have also play the officer's wife role. We are going to live on base.

Good luck to you on your move. If you happen through Denver on your way send me a missive and maybe you could stop for a playdate and some rest!

Good luck with the move!
The location sounds great - so much to see and do with the kids.
