See You Next Year

alamo2.jpg
This was taken 2 weeks ago at the Alamo.

The movers are coming tomorrow to start packing so this is the last night in this house. We are going to say Goodbye to San Antonio in style and stay at a hotel on the Riverwalk for our last few nights.

I can't say moving again is easy. But this is definitely the right decision for our family and that feels really good.

So, I'll be back in a few weeks, signing in from our new home in the Garden State.

Letting Go is So Hard

Since we are moving next week and we have most certainly decided that we are done having babies it was time to face the inevitable. Tonight I sorted through all of those boxes of baby clothes that I have been dragging around with me. Out of seven boxes I managed to choose a few pieces of keepsake items for each child, but not without getting choked up. All those teeny tiny jammies and socks! I will never have a little baby again. (sniff)

I'm hanging onto the sling though. Maybe I'll do this with it.

And speaking of slings, I liked Hathor's comic from today.

Finally!

I have been planning to post this for a few days now, but as you can imagine things are more than a little hectic around here.

As we had suspected all along, we have to report to McGuire AFB in New Jersey by the end of the month. The movers will come on the 19th to start packing and will load the truck on the 21st. "What about Christmas?" you wonder. Well, we will drive up through Kansas City and make a brief family stop on our way east.

Though it is rough having to move again so soon, we are happy about the location. New Jersey does get a bad rap, but McGuire is in Burlington County which is the most rural county in the state. But we won't be completely out in the boonies. It is 45 minutes from Philadelphia, 90 minutes from NYC and 3 hours from Washington, DC. The best of both worlds and I can't forget to mention we will be about a half an hour from the coast!

I'm not so thrilled about jumping right into to winter. (We had a high of 71 here today) I had to scramble and order snowpants and boots for the kids. I still need to buy some sweaters and more long-sleeved shirts. When we moved here 6 months ago we never imagined we would be leaving so soon. After this move we are definitely planning on staying put for a while.

Nothing to Update

We found out why we haven't received orders yet: the man who signs off on these life-altering decisions is on vacation until tomorrow. So, I think we may be leaving San Antonio for good in about 2 weeks, but since we haven't received orders yet I don't know for sure. I guess I should start doing something to prepare for all of this, but I'm just going about my regular routine pretending it's not happening.
